Invasive Tests Segment by Test Type to Dominate Endothelial Dysfunction Market During 2022–2028

According to our new research study on “Endothelial Dysfunction Market Forecast to 2028 – COVID-19 Impact and Global Analysis – by Cause, Test Type, and End User,” the endothelial dysfunction market size is expected to reach US$ 2,584.84 million by 2028 from US$ 1,995.17 million in 2022; it is estimated to record a CAGR of 4.4% from 2022 to 2028. The report highlights the trends prevalent in the global endothelial dysfunction market, along with drivers and deterrents affecting it’s the market growth.

Based on test type, the endothelial dysfunction market is bifurcated into invasive tests and noninvasive tests. The invasive tests segment held a larger endothelial dysfunction market share in 2022. Diagnosis of endothelial dysfunction through invasive tests is generally performed during coronary angiography. The major focus of testing endothelial dysfunction is vasoreactivity testing. Invasive tests are done due to vasoreactivity testing being the most clinically demonstrable vascular endothelium function. Invasive tests are usually done with two techniques—intracoronary and intrabrachial infusions of vasoacting agents. These techniques are still considered the gold standard for early detection of endothelial dysfunction. These invasive techniques have been reported in several cardiometabolic disease states associated with future atherosclerosis and other adverse outcomes.

Invasive tests provide precision and accuracy of results, thus widely preferred over the techniques that rely on surrogate measures of coronary arterial function. However, there are limitations associated with invasive tests, as the tests require an intra-arterial injection of vasoactive agents or medications, and they can result in systemic adverse effects and exposure to radiation and contrast. Hence, invasive tests are not preferred for repeat evaluation and are not performed often. Thus, invasive tests are largely limited to patients undergoing coronary angiography for clinical reasons.

On the other hand, noninvasive tests have competitive advantages over invasive tests. The use of noninvasive tests for endothelial dysfunctions allows early detection in high-risk patients enabling prevention of atherosclerosis. The noninvasive tests are further segmented into flow-mediated dilatory, venous occlusion plethysmography, peripheral arterial tonometry (PAT), circulating markers, and others.

Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Endothelial Dysfunction Market

During the COVID-19 pandemic, chaotic situations were created, leading to negative growth in each industry and business worldwide. Healthcare faced various difficulties in trading medical goods worldwide. In both developed and developing countries, the supply of medical goods, including medical devices, was shattered due to the complete lockdown. There was high demand for diagnosing devices; however, the strict regulation hampered the trade and supply of essential diagnostic devices, which also hindered the growth of the endothelial dysfunction market. Nevertheless, the endothelial dysfunction market witnessed a rise in its growth post-COVID-19 pandemic. The screening of endothelial dysfunction increased among the people, and the diagnosis of endothelial dysfunction was seen more among the COVID-19-infected people. The market is expected to see continuous growth post-pandemic during the forecast period.

ZOLL Medical Corp, Sphingo Tec GmbH, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, The Polymath Co, Endothelix Inc, Perimed AB, SMART Medical Ltd, Everist Health Inc, Alam Medical SaRl, and Medizinische Messtechnik GmbH are a few key companies operating in the endothelial dysfunction market. These companies adopt product innovation strategies to meet evolving customer demands, which allows them to maintain their brand name. For instance,  in April 2021, Berkeley Lab has developed flow-mediated dilation device to monitor both endothelial function and endothelium-independent vasodilation.

The report segments the global endothelial dysfunction market as follows:

Based on cause, the endothelial dysfunction market is segmented into hypertension, diabetes, hypercholestrolaemia, Bechet’s disease, obesity, and others. Hypertension segment held the largest market share in 2022. The diabetes segment is anticipated to register the highest CAGR from 2022 to 2028. By end user, the endothelial dysfunction market is categorized into hospitals, diagnostic centers, clinics, and others. Hospitals segment held the largest market share in 2022 and is anticipated to register the highest CAGR from 2022 to 2028. Geographically, the endothelial dysfunction market is segmented into North America (the US, Canada, and Mexico), Europe (France, Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy, and the Rest of Europe), Asia Pacific (China, India, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and the Rest of APAC), the Middle East & Africa (Saudi Arabia, the UAE, South Africa, and the Rest of MEA), and South & Central America (Brazil, Argentina, and the Rest of South & Central America).
