ZTE helps China Mobile send the first 5G message in China

ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), an internationally leading provider of solutions for the telecommunications industry as well as for corporate and private customers in the field of mobile Internet, today announced the Zhejiang China Mobile office helped send China's first 5G message. The test took place in Hangzhou ( China ) based on the GSMA UP2.4 standard. China Mobile is the first Chinese network operator to implement the 5G Message Center (5GMC).

China Mobile's 5G Message is scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of June 2020, which is also the official countdown to commercial use of 5G messages in China .

In this first 5G message, the 5G messaging system, a chatbot and existing network devices communicated with each other. Rich media messages such as pictures, videos, places and files were transmitted from point to point.

Communication between the end device and the new industrial chatbot is realized via the MAAP platform. This significantly enhances the consumption of multimedia content on end devices and accelerates the commercialization of 5G messages.

China Mobile's Zhejiang office is the first pilot location for China Mobiles 5G news. The 5GMC system developed by ZTE uses a consistently cloud-based NFV architecture with an integrated compact solution.

In addition to backward compatibility with 2G / 3G / 4G SMS, the 5GMC system provides brand new 5G messaging services, including enhanced messaging and business news. SMS is upgraded to rich media messages, card messages and chatbot applications.

The users of 5G devices and industrial users can use all services (such as search, dialogue, interaction and payment) directly in the message window, without installing any APPs and with direct access to applications from network operators and third-party providers.

ZTE has been supporting China Mobile for some time in the development of the 5G messaging system. As the world's leading messaging service provider, ZTE works closely with China Mobile to develop international standards for 5G messaging. ZTE supported China Mobile in the world's first GSMA UP certification and carried out the communication test for 5G messaging for three large Chinese network operators. This laid a solid foundation for the development of 5G messaging.
