Venture Global LNG, Inc. is pleased to announce the successful elevation of the second LNG storage tank dome at the company's Calcasieu Pass LNG export facility located in Cameron Parish , Louisiana. This important project milestone was completed almost three months ahead of schedule and comes just nine months after the project's final investment decision (DFI).
The dome and assembly of the 816,000-kilogram tank were airlifted into place on Tuesday, May 19, less than a month after the dome's elevation of the first LNG tank on April 24. Air injection lift allows for better and safer access as well as a faster construction schedule as the roof can be erected simultaneously with the assembly. The tank dome was raised in one hour and 20 minutes using 0.25 psi of pressure. CB&I Storage Tank Solutions, a division of McDermott International, Inc., is building the project's dual 200,000m 3 tanks .
Venture Global is also pleased to announce that the first modules of the export facility's 720 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant have already arrived on site. The key components of the gas insulated substation (SAG) have been successfully installed and on schedule, and the site has also begun to receive and install modules for the air-cooled condenser (CEA).
