Six new contracts were signed with specialized companies to offer medical aid to Yemen and Palestine to combat the COVID-19 pandemic at the 10th virtual meeting and special committee to fight against COVID -19 in affected countries, meeting led by Dr. Abullah Al Rabeeah , general supervisor of the King Salman Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). The contracts will urgently provide medical supplies and prevention equipment to combat the spread of the virus in at-risk communities in both countries.
"KSrelief respects the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz , Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, to help countries affected by this pandemic," said Dr. Al Rabeeah, in a statement after the signing.
Participants in the emergency meeting also discussed ways to provide necessary medical aid to other countries affected by the outbreak of the pandemic. This assistance will be provided in coordination with United Nations agencies and other organizations that work for the good of humanity.
The Kingdom's help in the fight against COVID-19 was the latest in a series of gestures that epitomize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to provide comprehensive and impartial humanitarian aid globally to all who need it.
Saudi Arabia previously pledged to donate $ 10 million to the World Health Organization in response to its urgent appeal for aid to countries with weak health systems. The Kingdom has also funded several other programs to provide medical equipment and other aid to areas that need rapid intervention to fight the first COVID-19 outbreaks.
The KSrelief special committee is currently exploring additional ways for the Kingdom to help address the provision of needed global health care where it is most urgently needed.
