Boeing Reassigns 737 Max 3000 Workers to the 767, 777 and 777X Programs

Boeing Company plans to shut its 737 Max assembly lines by the mid of January 2020 and has planned for handing out new work assignments to its 3,000 workers affected due to the temporary halt of production.

Boeing’s plans of keeping its 737 Max workforce intact via an undefined shutdown of their narrow-body aircraft, announced recently. Regulators have banned Max from flying after the fatal crash of March 10 crash, second tragedy of the aircraft within 5 months spell. The continuous accidents happenings had killed almost 346 people followed by pushing the biggest industrial company of United States into crisis.

Boeing had to face a multifaceted task in terms of handling shutdown of 737, which was one of its major profit source in the challenging job market of United States. The plane maker, headquartered at Chicago did not want to layoff or furlough their workers as a consequence of the production suspension, said Stan Deal, chief executive of Boeing’s commercial airplane division to the employees.

In its Seattle-region’s manufacturing hub, Boeing strategizes “loaning” 737’s entire workforce to 767, 777 & 777X programs at their Everett factory. Also, the employees of South Carolina who work over Max’s propulsion systems may possibly be moved towards 787 program of North Charleston, Boeing held.

In addition, several other Boeing’s 737 factory workers will assist in managing around 400 Max jet that the company has stored at an airport in arid eastern Washington as well as at a new site that is being inaugurated in Victorville, California. The rest will be focusing over the improvements activities of Max’s manufacturing unit in Washington towards standardizing the work processes.

Production will officially stop when the airplane with the line number 7896 rolls out of their unit, Boeing held. The company also informed the workers that restarting their work is still very uncertain, citing improbability over the timing & conditions under which regulators will eventually allow the Max to return to service followed by the training to be given for flight crews.
